May [she/her] is a self-taught dance, portrait, and lifestyle photographer based in NYC.
Her inherent talent and interest for art and design began at an early age; over the years studying music, dance, and taking architecture and design classes in high school, this love grew immensely. Looking for something to do over a break from school she picked up a camera, started shooting, and hasn’t stopped.
May uses her natural tendency to be an observer to capture real moments and emotions. She understands the importance of making sure that whoever is in front of her camera is as comfortable as possible. She believes the best photo isn’t necessarily one that is posed, but one that genuinely captures the subject and/or their movement. She encourages her subjects to explore, be weird, and most of all have fun to get the most out of their shoot.
Aside from photography, May is a full-time student pursuing her BBA/MBA in Public Accounting.
